Trying to find prices on Pandas...

Silver Pandas that is, 1 ounce.

I checked most dealers online and they are either out or are only offering proof...

Ebay seems to turn up about 13-18 bucks each.

Whats a good price to pay? How much over spot? Thanks in advance... I normally considered them the same as Maples which would be a buck over spot or so.

We bought ONE because they are pretty and I could not find them without a serious premium.

If you can find any under $17 or $18 it's a steal. There is a serious premium on Chinese Panda's due to their numismatic appeal. They feature a different design every year. They are also a nicely minted coin. They definitely tie for 1st place in my book along with the Canadian Maple Leafs.

I bought from this place back in Dec 03. The 2003 was $11.99 and the 2002 was 12.99. I think the 11.99 was a special. Prices still not too bad. The 2002's and 3's do look nice.

I own one, just to have one that is. A 2001 "Colored" one too :D
Payed 17 buckaroos for it :embarasse

Not exactly my mainstay... but one is kinda cool just for showing and using to get others interested in silver

Re: Trying to find prices on Pandas...

i think they are nice to buy one at the premium they carry. I seriously cannot see me loading up at that huge price. I have only a 1/10 oz gold panda and a 1 oz gold panda both in orginal casing +plastic that cost me no more than any other regular gold coin. I think i got a decent deal. I will not sell these for silver like i did my other gold thats for sure. Pandas are purdy, definately. But for the price the silver pandas are bringing, thanks but no thanks!

Guy just sent me some pics... Are these actual pandas or just copies / generics?

Thanks again, I can't place this picture with any years I've found and no dates on it either

Agreed not real pandas ... but as they are copies, can you be sure they are .999????

I have one in my collection I bought from a dealer that had them in his 'round bin'. It weights the same as a regular round same dimensions and sounds like silver as well.

I actually just remembered I had it and went thru my pile to dig it out. It's real, and for a generic round it looks very nice. Thanks for all your help everyone!

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I want to tack on a panda the next time I place an order online.

I seem to be finding local 'dealers' who are more into baseball cards and stuff than silver, who are selling what little 90% they have really cheap... This weekend I scored some dimes, quarters and half dollars at 6.5 times face and the guy rounded off my price so with tax it was about 6.55 times face. I'm hoping he'll have more by this weekend :proud:
